What is The Dramatic Improv Festival?
The Dramatic Improv Festival is a new festival, now in our second year! We are dedicated to bringing the best of dramatic and narrative improvisation into one location, for a long weekend of connection, education, and performance.
The festival will be held in the North Center neighborhood of Chicago on September 11-13, with classes running on Saturday and Sunday and performances Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
This is a unique event, an entire festival dedicated to bringing together the best dramatic improvisors in the world to cross-pollinate, perform, learn, and network. There will be numerous performances, two festival venues, several workshops, and insta-teams!
We’ll have insta-team opportunities and jams, so even if you’re on a performing ensemble, you still have a chance to get onstage and join the festivities. The after-parties and jams will all be at Laugh Out Loud Theater and Goldie's Pub.
There are also scholarship slots available for students in need.
The Dramatic Improv Festival is intended to bring together performers, instructors, and students from all over the world to celebrate, perform, and learn the intricacies of improvisation seen through the lens of drama. This is our first year, and we look forward to seeing everyone in October!
