Countdown Improv Festival 2021

September 08-12, 2021

About Countdown Improv Festival 2021

After running a successful virtual festival in August 2020, we are excited to be provisionally returning to a live and in-person event for our fifth year. As of this writing (April 2021), we are increasingly optimistic that, with necessary modifications and adjustments, we can safely hold an in-person festival this fall. A lot could and might happen between now and then, and if it turns out it just isn't safe, we're fully prepared to pivot to a virtual environment as we did last year. Please visit our website for an extensive COVID-19 FAQ and the latest updates and information on this year's event. (https://countdownimprovfestival.com)

The festival returns for a fifth year to the Mainstage Theatre at the Ybor City campus of Hillsborough Community College (HCC). The theatre is a top-of-the-line professional facility and is run by one of the best crews around. Prepare yourself for a world-class improv festival experience!

The venue is located in the heart of historic Ybor City, a neighborhood known for its local businesses and nightlife. Ybor is just a quick 10-minute (9 mile) ride from Tampa International Airport.

The Countdown Improv Festival is a truly performer-focused festival, and we are intent on ensuring that our performers have a good show and a great time. Our goal is to provide the very best performer experience on the improv festival circuit. We try very hard to meet that goal.

We do not have headliners and we do not stratify our participants; we welcome and value every performer on the bill, and we believe that every act, no matter their experience level, has the potential to have the best show of the festival. From the moment you arrive in Tampa to the moment you leave, you will feel appreciated, encouraged, and empowered to do your best work.

Countdown Improv Festival is a three-day festival dedicated exclusively to trio, duo, and solo improv comedy. This festival is a production of Countdown Theater in New York City, a pop-up improv theater run by Kelly Buttermore and Justin Peters of the improv duo From Justin to Kelly.
