About Slapdash International Improv Festival 2017

Slapdash International Improv Festival brings some of the finest improvisers from all over the world to play and teach in Central London. Over seven days of workshops and three nights of shows, we host hundreds of improvisers in the longest running festival of Improvised Theatre in London. This year Slapdash runs 16 October - 22 October at The Nursery Theatre in central London, and will boast a year of many firsts.

The first...first is the Slapdash International Team. Over five days invited improvisers from all over the world will train with Jon Bolden of The Hideout Theatre in Austin, Texas. This team will focus on ensemble narrative to create an improvised one-act play to be presented as the headline act on Friday night. Jon is an award-winning director, instructor, and improvisational actor who has taught in Japan and The Vancouver Theatresports Tournament, in addition to Austin. He is known for his award-winning Nothing & Everything: Improvised Anton Chekhov Plays and the Manhattan Stories: Improvised "Woody Allen Films." Improvisers will be invited through audition.

Another first, is our Thursday night headline act, On The Spot from Hawaii presenting Hush, an improvised silent movie. On The Spot Improv been called one of the most innovative improv groups in the world for their unique approach to improvised theatre. They have played throughout the US including Austin Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, Phoenix Improv Festival, the Seattle Festival of Improv Theater and Chicago Improv Festival. We are excited to be the fist to host them internationally!
