About Adult Bakery

Arising from the oven of The Torch Theatre, Adult Bakery have become regulars on the Torch stage and recently completed a 4 week run of 45 minute shows. They bake up a fast-paced, high-energy show based on the 'Slacker' format where the world of the base scene is expanded through tagouts!

The Bakers were the winners of the 2013 Phoenix Improv March Madness Playoffs and the winners of the 2013 Torch Tournament of Champions, open to winners of competitive-improv events throughout the year. They represented the Torch at the ColdTowne Showdowne in Austin in February 2014.



Adult Bakery was formed entirely by chance, in a lottery draw at the Torch in September 2012 that was open to any performers who wished to join in. The only guarantee would be that the team would receive four coached rehearsals and a four-week, four-show run in October 2012. However, not unlike selecting ingredients to go into a fine pastry, the Bakers soon found that each member of the eight-person troupe brought a unique style of play to the group, and the resulting shows, culminating in a well-received show at the Ghostfest 2012 marathon, were not only fun to watch but were a tremendous amount of fun to perform. The group immediately submitted for performance slots in the Torch's regular schedule and have performed monthly since the end of the original 4-week run.



Several of the original Bakers have left the group to focus on other pursuits. As any good Baker would do, the troupe sought out some new ingredients to enhance the original Adult Bakery recipe. The troupe has 6 members and performs regularly at the Torch including a recent 4 week run of 45 minute shows.
