Improvise With the Strengths of an Autistic Person

Behaviors that are stereotypically seen as a deficit in autistic people in the "real world," often lead to more interesting and engaging choices on stage. Traits like intense emotions and getting excited about unusual things, getting caught up in the details, being unaware of social expectations and pleasantries, stating the obvious, and being non-verbal or speaking minimally. This workshop is designed to help teach non-autistic persons to get more comfortable doing these things that come naturally to autistic people, in order to have the tools to make different and surprising choices on stage. However, autistic people taking this workshop will gain confidence that their natural choices in these areas are not actually deficits.
