What venue(s) will be a part of the festival?

VIF will take place at Center for Arts at the Armory in Somerville Massachusetts. Somerville is the artistic heart of the metro Boston area centrally located near Harvard and easily accessible by public transportation. Central Square , ImprovBoston, Harvard and MIT are nearby.

Located at 191 Highland Ave, in Somerville, it is easily accesible from inexpensive public transportation. The "T" is a short walk away and busses stop right by the venue. Travel from the airport vis the "T" is inexpensive and simple to navigate.




What lodging options are available?

Multiple Airbnb listings throughout Somerville and Cambridge are reasonably priced alternatives to hotels. Please book early though because these may fill up with families visiting local colleges.
There are a number of Hotels in the Boston/Cambridge/Somerville area.

What transportation options are available?

Public transportation is inexpensive and easy from the airport via the T. The venue is a T-stop and a short walk. The bus routes go right by the venue. LYFT and UBER are available as well. The area is bicycle and walking friendly.


What dining options are available?

We will provide a list of nearby places to eat . The Café at Arts at the Armory is always open when the festival is running and has great café food, coffees and beer.

How much stage time will performers receive?

Each team will have at least one 20-25 minute evening slot during the festival. Everyone will be taking workshops together in the morning and early afternoon. There may be opportunities to perform in more intimate settings in the Café during the festival as well.

What are the selection criteria for this festival?

We seek experienced vintage improvisers from a wide range of geographic locations with diverse improvisational skills. We seek vintage improvisers who want to spend an entire weekend together in mutual support, engagement and performance


What unique improv experiences will performers gain?

Vintage - A whole festival designed for and inhabited by people born before 1969

All workshops are designed with vintage improvisers as the focus.

Dedicated to the proposition that comedy gets better with age, a Vintage Improv Festival (VIF) is a joyous celebration of the Art of Improvisation featuring improvisers who are at least 50 years old. Through performances and in learning community over one jam-packed weekend, each Festival is designed to support the Vintage community while reaching out to the general public through performance to foster intergenerational appreciation and communication. Sponsored by Vintage Improv Festival, Inc. a nonprofit organization based in the Boston Massachusetts area, the organization is committed to working with other cities to sponsor regional VIF spinoffs in order to meet the needs of a growing and underserved improv demographic.
